Spring Has Almost Sprung!

Greetings Friends,

Easter is in just a few days! It feels like the long Winter is behind us and Spring has almost sprung! I pray that you are happy and well. As I watch the news, I’m encouraged by the speed with which the Covid-19 vaccine is being rolled out. I believe we all want a return to our usual social gatherings, hugs included, and increasing our immunity to the virus is key to that end. Rev. Sue and I both had our second shots in March. It feels good to know we’ve done our part to help end the pandemic. The “bug” stops here!

I’ve had some interesting conversations with people about taking the vaccine. Some hesitate to take it because they fear it may be harmful to the body. Others think they don’t need it because they have “spiritual immunity.” After all, Myrtle Fillmore said, “I am a child of God and therefore I don’t inherit sickness.” Can’t we just use the power of our thoughts to prevent disease? Yes, we can, but we have some powerful beliefs in disease to overcome first. Until that happens, the body is subject to illness.

Here’s what I believe…. I believe that with God all things are possible. I question, however, whether or not we all have a “with God” consciousness. A “with God” consciousness means that we, as Jesus did, have overcome our human nature. It means that our personality/ego has diminished and we consciously live from our Christ nature. In other words, we’ve attained enlightenment! Let me assure you that I, for one, have not. I’ve seen the top of the mountain, but I certainly don’t live there!

So for me, the decision was to allow science and spirituality to work together. That felt right to me. It felt like freedom. Each of us gets to hold the decision about vaccination in prayer and discernment. I invite you to allow your decisions to be guided by love rather than fear.

I hope you have a wonderful Easter. For those who would like to gather in person on Easter Sunday, we’re broadcasting the service in the parking lot on FM Radio 105.3. Join us for “drive-in” church, watch the Easter Egg hunt, and bring your lunch and a lawn chair for a socially distanced time of fun and fellowship afterward.

Thank you, friends, for your ongoing love and support. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

In Light and Love,

Rev. Cindy
