Happy February, the month of love! Today I’d like to thank all those who show their “Love in Action” at Unity of Dayton. There are so many people who work behind the scenes (yes, even during the pandemic!) to keep the heart of our church beating. Throughout the summer months, we have a team of dedicated individuals who mow our acres on the riding mower. Another team pushes the hand mower and does the trimming. Let’s also thank those who maintain the mowing equipment!
Some share their talents by serving on the Board of Trustees, others serve by repairing, patching, and painting the Sanctuary walls. Some share the gift of encouragement during our Zoom book study groups. Others share their gifts of hospitality, compassion, or listening from the heart when a friend loses a loved one to COVID-19. Whether it’s a gift of money, music, comfort, or laughter, all are gifts of the heart. Like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, we’re not all the same shape, size, or color, but we all fit together to make a whole and beautiful spiritual community.
In a few days, I’ll begin my 10th year as Senior Minister at Unity of Dayton. And, though we’ve been through some ups and downs, in my mind there is still a clear vision of a thriving, compassionate community of like-minded people who support each other on this mystical journey we call life. Even after eleven months out of our building, we are still together because we’re finding ways to create community, encourage each other, and give the love that we want to receive. Friends, that’s what it’s all about. Instead of longing for what we had, we’re finding a way to bring that energy into our NOW. You simply give the essence of what you are seeking, and for that, you are blessed and are a blessing.
You’re probably aware that it’s been a while since our last Town Hall Meeting. Perhaps you are wondering, “How is the church doing financially? What about the broken HVAC unit? When will we reopen the building? Is Rev. Cindy really going on a three-month Sabbatical?” For those who stay attuned to the business side of Unity, we’ll look at these questions during our Annual Business Meeting. This year it will be held via Zoom on Sunday, March 7 at 12:30 pm. You can zoom from your home computer, or from your cell phone in our parking lot! We’ll be voting on a couple of Bylaw changes, so please plan to attend if you’re able. You’ll find more information in our weekly Wednesday emails.
Meanwhile, we’re continuing our Sunday lesson series based on David Hoffmeister’s book, “This Moment is Your Miracle: Spiritual Tools to Transcend Fear and Experience the Power of the Present Moment.” Right now, we have the opportunity pick up and practice using spiritual tools that will serve us as we move beyond the pandemic. Let us wake up, rise up, and claim our inheritance in our ongoing ascension to Christ consciousness!
As always, you have my deepest appreciation and gratitude.
Much love to you my friends,
Prayer for Protection
The Light of God surrounds us,
The Love of God enfolds us.
The Power of God protects us,
The Presence of God watches over us.
Wherever we are, God is!
